Inspiration for The Girl with a Diamond Earring by Rum Freeman @rumfreemanart
Painted in 1665 during the “Dutch Golden Age”, Vermeer’s muse poses against a dark undefined background. Looking over her shoulder she looks at her audience with an alluring and enigmatic gaze.

Girl with a Pearl Earring was an inspiration for a book and a film. Novel of the same name was written by Tracy Chevalier. Later adapted by a screenwriter Olivia Hetreed. Film was directed by Peter Webber, Starring Scarlett Johansson as Griet, 17th-century servant in the household of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Action is set in 1665 in the city of Delf, Holland.

Rum Freeman created Girl with a Diamond Earring in 2018. As a part of #paintingaday challenge. Inspired by a TED talk from David Litchfield.
